Hes immensely talented - Alia Bhatt on Fahadh Faasil

Alia Bhatt, who’s steadily expanded her cinematic footprint beyond Bollywood, recently voiced her admiration for Malayalam cinema’s powerhouse performer Fahadh Faasil. Speaking to Brut India at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the actor said she’s eager to work with Fahadh, describing his performance in Aavesham as “simply exceptional.”

A Dream Pairing in the Making?

“There are so many extraordinary actors from different parts of the country,” Alia shared. Adding, "I had the pleasure of working with Roshan Mathew in Darlings. He’s someone who made a name in Malayalam films and is now gaining traction in Hindi cinema as well. Fahadh Faasil is another actor I greatly respect. He’s immensely talented, and Aavesham is one of my all-time favourite films.”

Faasil, most recently seen reprising his role in Pushpa 2: The Rule and starring in Amal Neerad’s Bougainvillea, has built a reputation for intense, layered performances. If this collaboration ever materialises, it promises to bring together two versatile performers from different cinematic worlds.

Speaking about her choices as an actor, Alia said she prefers to follow her instincts over genre labels. “I don’t look at scripts as mainstream or alternative. If it excites me and challenges me as an actor, I’m in,” she explained. Her upcoming projects include Alpha alongside Sharvari and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
