First Look of Avatar: Fire and Ashs New Villain Varang Unveiled

James Cameron’s epic cinematic universe is back with its most awaited chapter, Avatar: Fire and Ash. The first-look poster for the film was released today, introducing a new villain, Varang. The character is portrayed by actor Oona Chaplin, known for playing Talisa Maegyr in Game of Thrones. Varang is said to be the Na'vi leader of a volcano-dwelling Ash People clan. 

Sharing the first look poster, 20th Century Studios also revealed that the trailer will be exclusively released with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The trailer was also shown during the CinemaCon event in April this year. The caption read, "Meet Varang in Avatar: Fire and Ash. Be among the first to watch the trailer, exclusively in theatres this weekend with The Fantastic Four: First Steps."

Describing the character, James Cameron had once said, "Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that. She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil."

Created by Cameron, Avatar is an American epic science fiction media franchise, known to be one of the most expensive franchises. The first film was released in 2009, with Avatar: The Way of Water in 2022. 

Avatar Fire and Ash

During its theatrical run, Avatar became the highest-grossing film of all time. Also touted as the biggest Hollywood film in India, this third installment of the global phenomenon promises to transport audiences back to the breathtaking world of Pandora like never before. With returning stars like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver, the film is poised to draw both old fans and new viewers into its expansive world. 

20th Century Studios India will release Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19 in 6 languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
