The makers released the first glimpse of Sarzameen few days back, featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan in a gritty role, Prithviraj Sukumaran portraying an Army Officer, and Kajol as his wife. The official trailer released today, providing a clearer idea and a detailed narrative, which is around a father-son dynamic set against the themes of patriotism and terrorism.
The trailer starts with a scene of Ibrahim’s character in an army uniform, trudging through a snow-clad area with difficulty. After that, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character is introduced who’s also playing Ibrahim’s father, with him expressing disappointment in his son’s supposed weakness and struggle with communication. As Kajol attempts to reconcile the father-son dynamic, Ibrahim’s character appears to have started on a journey to earn his father’s approval. The trailer suggests that he may join a terrorist organization, probably to demonstrate his abilities and strength to his father.

The trailer also shows a tense relation between the father-son duo, suggesting a potential conflict with deadly consequences. Interestingly, Kajol's character, initially portrayed as a mediating mother, hints at a more important role which will have a big impact on the story.
Apart from the main leads, the trailer also shows Mihir Ahuja in a different appearance, featuring a heavy beard and a stern look, which shows his character is that of a leader within a terrorist group opposing the army.

Sharing the trailer, the official page of JioHotstar added a caption, “Yahaan har faisla ek kurbani hai, desh ki ya apno ki…kuch aisi Sarzameen ki kahaani hai.”
Shortly after the trailer's release, Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim's sister, reposted it on her Instagram, adding a playful caption, “Today is Mommy’s day! Meri movie and bhai Jaans trailer. Go to the theatre now! And mark your calendar for the 25th of July!”
The film, directed by Kayoze Irani, son of Boman Irani, is scheduled to have its direct premiere on JioHotstar on July 25.
