Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad due to an investigation on money laundering concerning illegal online betting applications.

Vijay Deverakonda’s team had earlier rubbished claims of his involvement, noting that the actor was only involved to promote a “skill-based gaming platform.” He allegedly wasn’t a part of any betting or gambling. His team had further added that he endorsed the app only regions and territories where only where “skill-based games are legally permitted.” His legal team had also reviewed the agreement to comply with the right standards. Moreover, the team’s clarification also noted that his endorsement contract ended in 2023.
Not just Vijay, Prakash Raj had also appeared in front of ED for questioning. However, the veteran actor had noted that he withdrew from the contract with the betting app as early as 2016. He claimed he had withdrawn from the contract on "moral grounds.” He also allegedly didn’t receive any payments from the app. He hasn’t been asked to appear in court again.

Another actor, Rana Daggubati was also asked to appear in front of the ED but he requested an extension. Instead of July 23, he will now appear on August 11.
The ED’s investigation also extends to celebrities including Manchu Lakshmi, Nidhhi Agerwal, Pranitha Subhash and some television personalities.
