Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has shared a major update on his much-awaited action thriller Spirit, confirming that around 40 percent of the film has been completed. Speaking at an event attended by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Sunday, Vanga expressed confidence about the project and said he hopes audiences will embrace the film when it releases in theatres.The update marks the first significant production milestone since Spirit went on floors around eight months ago. Prabhas has reportedly been balancing the film's shoot alongside his commitments to Hanu Raghavapudi's Fauzi.
Prabhas is expected to play a fierce police officer in Spirit. Earlier, while unveiling the character's first look, the makers teased the role with the line: "You loved what existed before. Now fall in love with what you never knew existed."
Power-packed cast and crew
Triptii Dimri stars opposite Prabhas in the film, marking her first collaboration with the actor after her acclaimed performance in Animal. Vivek Oberoi plays the principal antagonist.Spirit also reunites Sandeep Reddy Vanga with composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, who has collaborated with the filmmaker on his previous films. According to the makers, work on the film's background score has already been completed alongside production.
A pan-Indian film with global ambitions
The makers are planning a wide release across multiple Indian languages and have also expressed their intention to release the film in international markets, including dubbed versions in Mandarin, Japanese and Korean, subject to distribution plans.Spirit is currently scheduled to release in theatres on March 5, 2027. However, given the film's ongoing production schedule, it remains to be seen whether it will meet that release date. If it does, Prabhas will have two major theatrical releases within three months, with Fauzi slated to arrive on December 3, 2026. Apart from Spirit and Fauzi, Prabhas is also working on Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2, which is currently in production.
